The children have had a very positive start to our second half term in year 4. We are looking forward to lots of hard work and a little bit of fun on the run up to the festive season!
In maths we are focussing on our mental multiplication and division methods, trying to understand techniques to help us calculate something we don't know using number facts that we do know. The children are starting to discover that knowing their times tables makes things much easier. Well done to all those children who are working so hard to achieve their times table awards.
In literacy we are enjoying writing our diary entries pretending to be the Iron Man, he has had a run of bad luck and is buried at the bottom of a deep pit, this is prompting some very imaginative and emotional writing.
Welcome to Year 4 and our first term in Ash Class.
The children have settled in well during their first weeks and it is a pleasure getting to know them all better.
We have produced some fabulous work during creative week. Our displays look wonderful with the children’s self-portraits and their versions of Vincent Van Gogh’s – The Starry Night, they have truly created some masterpieces.
Our first week ended with our amazing Roman Day. The children looked fantastic in their Roman costumes. The entire day was filled with hands on experiences of being Roman, the children made mosaics, bath oils, trained as Roman doctors, reclined at a Roman banquet, marched like Roman soldiers and performed Roman plays and dances – to name but a few things. I think they are all really inspired for their new topic!
I am really looking forward to a busy and exciting term.
