January

First day back after the Christmas holiday.... we shared our wonderful holidays and then set off to visit Berkley Methodist Church.

.   The minister, Rev. James shared many of the artefacts in the church and told us what they are used for.....................

The children then played I spy....having to find certain objects and then use their senses to think about how they felt, what they could feel, smell, hear and see.

Once back from the church and returning from lunch we designed our own very colourful stained glass windows.

To kick start our topic; The Great Fire of London, we had a History off the page and went back in time for the day!

In Maths we have been reinforcing our knowledge of place value and using this plus our number bonds to help with addition from single digits to 3 digit numbers.

                                                           4 + 7 + 6 + 3 =

                                                          14 + 17 + 16 + 13 =

                                                          34 + 47 + 56 + 23 =

In English we are studying favourite poems of Julia Donaldson. We have had a great time collecting sounds like The Sound Collector. We have made Onomatopoeia words and used these to help write a 2, 4 rhyming poem.
