Year 3 have had a very busy first half term. They are working extremely hard in the ICE zone and have completed some fantastic pieces of work including self portraits, historical timelines and powerpoint presentations. Outside, the children have started learning all about Shakespeare and have been performing their own plays.
The children have now finished writing their own fairy tales and have started a new topic all about diaries. We have been using Anne Fine's story, 'Diary of a Killer Cat' to inspire our writing. After half term, the children will start to write their very own diary entry.
In maths, the children have been working hard on their written methods for addition and subtraction. This has been quite a change from Year 2 and I have been very impressed with how quickly the children are picking up the new methods. We will soon be working on multiplication and division.
We are coming towards the end of our science topic, 'Animals, including Humans'. The children have enjoyed learning all about the human body, nutrition and diets of humans and animals. We will soon be starting our new topic, 'Forces and Magnets'.
