Back after a good break, tanned and buzzing with news to share. We spent the first couple of weeks getting back into the swing of things. In class we were introduced to the ICE zone topic; Great, Great Britain. We found out that Britain is made from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. We had fun learning all about the Union flag and how the Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English flags are used to make it. Much excitement was had when we all made an edible Union flag out of sweets!
The children had a wonderful time studying the traditional costume of each country in Britain and then on a cardboard of themselves created themselves in their chosen costume.
The writer; Anthony Browne has been introduced to the children and we have been enjoying studying the adventure books; Gorilla and The Tunnel. Some great drama has been going on along with writing.
In maths we have struggled with PLace value but persevered and showing signs of good understanding now. We have used place value in our addition and subtraction.
Our topic in Science is Living things including Humans and already the children are using their scientific skills to find things out...
