Year 6 had an amazing time at Young Voices at the O2 arena in London this week. They were part of a choir with over 3,000 other children from across the country - the atmosphere was incredible.

Literacy

At the start of this term new topic of writing all to do with graffiti. The children have researched and written about the history of graffiti and this have been considering whether graffiti is art or vandalism (or both!). They have all written an article about this for a magazine.

Following on from this, year 6 have begun reading a new book - Pig Heart Boy, y former Children’s Laureate, Malorie Blackman. We’ve been discussing the potentially controversial topics that emerge in the story as a young boy with a failing heart considers his options.

Geography

We have started their new topic looking at volcanoes. So far the children have looked at the patterns around where volcanoes are found around the world and they have begun to look at how volcanoes are formed (and even the different types of formation).

End of Term

Congratulations to all the year 6 children who received awards in our Award Assembly last week. It makes us proud to see how hard the children are working and how much they have improved this year.

As the Spring term comes to an end, we look back on so many great achievements and events this term. It has been great to celebrate all the children’s effort on Reward Day today.
