Welcome to the summer term, how quickly our final term in Year 4 has come upon us!
We are very excited about our new topic for this term: South America. The children will be learning all about this exciting and diverse continent. They will be creating a detailed geographical fact file about a South American country of their choice. In addition, we will find out about the Amazon Rainforest and the animals and plants that make this incredible natural landmark their home.
Our English this term will start with narrative writing. We will use stories set in the Amazon Rainforest to link to this term’s topic and provide inspiration for exciting fiction writing.
In Maths we revisit many of the topics we have already covered. We start by building on our written multiplication skills before moving on to addition and subtraction. Later in the term we will consolidate our knowledge of fractions and decimals.
In Science we will complete our topic on sound, by investigating pitch and volume. Our final science topic is States of matter, the children will consider whether materials are solids, liquids or gases and observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled
Our Grafham residential trip means we have a very exciting start to this term and I can’t wait for the children to challenge themselves with a variety of activities and adventures.
I am looking forward to lots of hard work and fun learning this term and fingers crossed for some sunshine!
