Years 5 and 6 have had a visit from Carl, who was a pupil at Middlefield 7 years ago. He always had a dream of being a pilot and has just been accepted onto training as a commercial pilot after many years of seeking ways to follow this dream. He spoke to the children about his time at Middlefield and beyond and about how he sought out ways to achieve his dream.
He left the children with the message that they should follow their dreams and do all that they can as children to get experience of whatever their dream may be.
Summer Trust Sports Event
We enjoyed a great morning of sport at Winhills, competing against all the other year 6 children from across the Diamond Trust of schools. It was lovely to see the children working together so well in their teams and making the most of the opportunity to talk to children from other schools, many of whom they will be at secondary school with next year. The sports this time were dodgeball, rounders and athletics.
Science - shadow puppets
This term we have been looking at light in science, so we designed and created our own shadow puppets. Some of the children included colour which made the shadows very interesting.
Year six had our artist in residence, Mr Cornell, teach them some art based on creating images that show movement. The work began with a focus on drawing bodies in proportion and in different posistions - the children all really developed in this area. This led to artwork inspired by the work of Muybridge and Leroy Neiman, alongside inspiration from the Fauvist movement. See some of their wonderful work below.
