Further to information distributed last week, I will now be communicating with parents and children via Class Dojo.
You should all have received an email to login to Class Dojo as a parent AND child.
I will post updates, review children's work and be available on this platform only, in line with the rest of Middlefield.
Hello Year 6 and parents!
You were given a pack of activities on Friday to take home.
At the front of that pack is guidance to how much Maths and English you need to complete daily - I have also uploaded this below.
We are expecting 30 minutes a day reading plus 45 minutes Maths Whizz and 15 minutes TT Rockstars, if you do more that's amazing!
For parents: reading is vitally important, they have brought home reading books and I am more than happy for the children to read home books as well in this time. There are links below to more reading activities should you or your child wish to do them. We would also like it if you could view the class page for new maths activities that will be updated regularly. Spellings for this week have been sent home and also in the pack we have included the Year 5 & 6 spellings list - it would be great if you could test your children on some of these over the next 7 days. In the pack I have included 3 different guided reading texts and questions, we do guided reading daily and these are similar to what we would complete - this is not compulsory however it would be good to keep their brains answering different questions about books. Also in the pack are SPaG workouts, which will be vital in them remembering key grammar facts but again these are not compulsory.
In addition to the work I have outlined, the children also have their CGP SATs homework books. As we now know the SATs will no longer be going ahead, please feel free to allow your children to work through as much or as little of these as they like. I have also included the answer booklets in the pack sent home on Friday.
As we know, physical health is very important especially at this time although exercise can be harder from home! As such, I would like the children to complete a workout activity, I have uploaded 8 minute activities from The Body Coach TV below. Joe Wicks - The Body Coach - is also doing live workouts every morning for children on his YouTube channel. If you would like to join in, please visit the website.
In the information below there is also details of a range of 9 activities, from English to Science to Topic to Computing, for the children to complete over the first week, a new 9 grid will be set for the second week and released on Monday 30th March. These activities are to be completed by the children to the best of their abilities in their blue homework book.
If the children are confused by anything, I will be on Class Dojo daily for any questions that have arisen and to approve any uploaded work to their portfolio.
If you would like a more structured timetable for your children I have created learning pages on the bottom of the page. These include activities to do every day - again these are only for the families that want them and they are not compulsory but will offer a more structured day.
Thank you for your continued support over the next 7 days, it is very much appreciated!
