January
Welcome back to a new term in Attenborough class. Our topic for this half term is ‘Amazing Animals’ and as such we will be reading and learning all about a range of animals including owls, tigers, and farm and jungle animals. We will also be learning about Lunar New Year - this year is the year of the rabbit.
in maths, we will be continuing to learn about our numbers to 10, including making comparisons of numbers to 5 and combining numbers to make 5. We will of course do this through carpet sessions but also by playing lots of games and singing lots of songs.
The children loved making fruit kebabs inspired by some of the items of food that the hungry caterpillar eats in Eric Castle’s ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. Some children even tried fruit that they had never eaten before.

We had a visit from Safari Stu to help with our learning about animals. The children had the chance to look at and handle a number of animals including snakes, beetles, a tarantula, a chameleon as well as others. The language and the conversations children were having was wonderful. It was a lot of fun.
