June

For this half term, our books and learning will be based around books with a seaside theme. We have started off this half term by reading 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' alongside other books in this series. The children have loved listening to how Mr Grinling looks after his lighthouse. In our busy learning, children have enjoyed making lighthouses using a range of materials and techniques. Outside, it has been lovely to play with the water and the sand - the children really enjoy the added sensory bonus when taking part in these activities. Plus, it's always fun to get messy! In maths, we have been working hard on our number work, focusing recently on doubling numbers and learning our odds and evens. We always work as practically as possible and are very impressed with how well the children are picking up this learning. We have now finished learning our phase 2 and 3 sounds in phonics so will focus this last half term on building up our fluency in reading and writing words with these sounds in them. We will also be pushing children on their learning of their tricky words ready for Year 1. Please keep practising these at home.

As always, we will continue to send updates through Tapestry as well as on the website. Please keep checking back.
