Design Technology
In design technology the children have been designing and making castles, using cardboard they brought in from home. They had some amazing ideas and the castles they have made look great so far. They will be continuing with these soon.
Outdoor Learning
In outdoor learning this week we were talking about compost. Specifically, why we make compost at school and how we can improve this process. We had the opportunity to explore the compost area and discuss what we could put in the compost and what we could not. The children came up with some great ideas as to how we could gather more to put in the compost at school. We also got to look at the wormery and nettle liquid Mrs Jarvis has been making. The children were fascinated by the worms and what they feed on and how they help make the compost.
Forest School
This week the children have been continuing building dens and swings in the forest area. They also had the opportunity to play in the mud kitchen and play with puppets again. They had lots of fun learning to build and explore, as always in forest school.
Outdoor learning
We hibernated in the cabin for outdoor learning because it was very wet outside, due to the snow. The children discussed what fruit and vegetables they would like to grow at school in the future and made posters showing their choices. The posters were so colourful and imaginative. We are looking forward to growing some of these fruit and vegetables in the near future.
Forest school
In forest school this week, the children had a great time building tents and swings again. They got the chance to read in their dens, play with the mud kitchen and do some digging. They were able to do this whilst it was snowing, so this added to the adventure. The children seem to look forward to forest school each week thanks to Mrs Jarvis and Mr Shevki making it so much fun.
Tudor topic
The children have been busy making posters about Tudor children and included lots of information and pictures on where they lived, their schooling, what they wore and their lifestyles. They worked in small groups showing good team work, creativity and imagination.
