We are already coming to the end of the next half term and what a busy half term it has been. The children have loved our topic this term. We have spent a lot time learning about the natural world around us. We have been busy planting seeds, learning outdoors and reading stories related to the seasons.
The weather has been lovely for much of this half term so the children have enjoyed being outside as much as possible. We have opened up the big sand pit whenever able to and the children have also enjoyed playing with the water trays. March has given us the opportunity to look at special occasions as well. We have learned about Saint Patrick’s Day, Mothering Sunday and of course Easter.
We have started our new topic of 'Come Outside' for the next half term and so far have looked at a couple of books including 'One Plastic Bag' and more recently 'Supertato'. The children have been busy creating fantastic pieces of work including sunset pictures, African style bags daffodil art. They also had a go at making wanted posters to help capture Evil Pea. Some of the children enjoyed going around the classroom asking others if they had seen him and gave a good description. Some of the words we came up with included 'mischievous' and 'naughty'. Our outdoor learning continues and children have been having a lot of fun mark making using paint brushes and water. They have also explored our water beads, trying to find buried letters and numbers. There has been a lot of discussion about how the water beads feel and how they swell as more water is added.
World Book Day 2022
EYFS celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March. The children had a lovely day celebrating, sharing stories, creating their own books and decorating their own characters. It was a busy day and the children enjoyed spending the day in their cosy pyjamas. We even had a visit from a local author who shared his own story, ‘Flamingoboy’.
