March
Art
First, we practised painting long curved lines on paper. We made sure to keep these really smooth and fluid. Then we closed our eyes and thought about how it would feel to be on a rollercoaster! We considered the changes in speed and directions and the smooth flowing actions of the cars. We designed simple roller coaster tracks and painted them. Next time, we will add some more detail.
Art
In our Art lesson, we learned about the artist Clarice Cliff. She was a ceramicist who created vibrantly coloured works of art. We used concentric circles and bright colours to create our own Clarice Cliff style plates. Once our plates were dry, we used paper straws to blow black paint to create a silhouette of a tree and branches.
World Book Day
We had a very exciting day celebrating World Book Day! We talked about our favourite books, designed new front covers for them and listened to lots of stories.
DT
In DT, we have been learning about levers, linkages and pulleys. we discussed the different types of mechanisms and identified them in everyday objects. We started making our own linkage systems for our moving monsters!
