Welcome back! We hope you had a super half term break - we look forward to hearing all about your adventures!
WOW WHAT A MORNING!
We all had such a fantastic time at Winhills competing in the Trust Sports Event, taking part in dodgeball, benchball and football. The children were such great sports in all areas, really showed their skills and had great attitudes. To top it off they came in FIRST PLACE! Amazing
Today we took part in Outdoor Classroom Day. It is a global campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play. On the day, thousands of schools around the world take lessons outdoors and prioritise playtime. In 2018, over 3.5 million children worldwide took part, more than 550,000 of those were in the UK and Ireland.
Outdoor learning improves children’s health, engages them with learning and leads to a greater connection with nature. Play not only teaches critical life skills such as resilience, teamwork and creativity, but is central to children’s enjoyment of childhood. Lessons learnt outdoors, whether maths, science or language, often stay with us for life. Being outdoors helps children focus, boosts creativity and imagination, and can simply be more fun. Been outdoors helps children build friendships, test their own boundaries and solve their own problems.
Here's a little bit of information about what we do in our Guided Reading sessions. The children are really enjoying them because they encompass being in a book club and talking about the books rather than a typical 'learning' style.
Get yourself involved in reading and ask your child to be a certain role, maybe even give yourself a role too?
