Art and Design
Year 5 watched a video tutorial by Jack the Artist about designing their own PPE. They explored various aspects of fashion, function and aesthetics before creating their final design.
They also learned how to use Sculptris, which is a virtual sculpting software programme. The focus is on the concept of modelling clay. Users can pull, push, pinch and twist clay to create an ‘organic’ model
In maths, the children have been practising measuring angles. They have been comparing different types of angle and ensuring they use a protractor carefully to measure accurately.
World Smile Day
Friday 2nd October was World Smile day! A day to spread happiness among family, friends and complete strangers. The day began after Harvey ball, the artist who created the famous smiley face, became worried that the symbol was losing its meaning through overuse in the marketing industry. Ball believed that it’s more than just an image on a mug. In fact, it signifies the power of a smile. To right this wrong, he founded World Smile Day, where people are reminded of the true meaning of the smiley face.
