Welcome to a new year in Beech Class!
It's so lovely to have the children back in school. We have missed them so much, and it's been wonderful to see their smiling faces in the building this week.
We are all looking forward to a busy and exciting year!
Today, year 5 used drama to help us infer the thoughts, feelings and motives of a character. In pairs, the children thought of some questions they wanted to ask Miss Trunchbull. They then took turns to be Miss Trunchbull and decide how she would answer each question.
In Science, we are currently looking at the topic of Earth and Space. To learn about the difference between rotation and revolution, we went outside to understand the movement of the Earth around the Sun.
National Fitness Day
As part of National Fitness Day, year 5 were lucky enough to learn a little bit about NFL. As well as the active part of the lesson, the children talked a lot about the core values of NFL: respect, integrity, responsibility to team and resilience. The children discussed how these values cross over rfom sport to every day life.
Year 5 had a fantastic start to the term, with a PE lesson. The children started with a netball session, learning about the different skills needed to be an effective defender. They then moved on to an athletics session, practising their throwing techniques.
Outside ICE Zone
This half term, the children are lucky enough to have a session in the Outside ICE Zone with Miss Jarvis. Today, the children did various activities including, clearing the beds ready for planting, maintaining the pond area, preparing the digging area for KS1 and Middlefield Rangers.
As the weather gets wetter and colder, the children will need wellies and a waterproof for these activities. Please make sure these are in school everyday.
