Spring 2024
British Science Week
Terrific Tall Towers - In our science lesson this week we did the same activity as the rest of the school. We had 45 minutes to build the tallest tower from just paper and tape. We showed excellent teamwork and resilience when things didn't go quite to plan.
The tallest tower in the school was built by a team in our class - a towering 201cm - well done!
Science
Our new topic is Life Cycles and Reproduction. We started by learning how plants reproduce. We dissected flowers and discovered how the parts inside create new plants.
Year 5 and 6 combined to kickstart their new history topic entitled "What did the Greeks ever do for us?" History Off the Page visited the school and immersed us in everyday life in Athens in the morning. The children tried out a variety of different crafts and skills. In the afternoon, a celebration was held, involving a feast, theatrical performances and a dance. A good time was had by all!
Ancient Greece Day
Science - Our topic is 'Earth and Space'. Today we turned ourselves into the Solar System on the playground. We thought about the order of planets and speed of orbit.
Back in the classroom, we considered the sizes of the planets using various objects and then created our own models thinking about the order and size.
