Hi everyone
We have had a very busy half term and the children have worked very hard. They are definitely ready for a half term break (so are we!!).
In English, the book we used most recently to inspire our writing is Leon and the Place Between, a beautiful picture book about a trip to a circus where a boy called Leon takes part in a magic trick with amazing results!
The children have enjoyed predicting what will happen at various points in the story and have shown creativity when inventing their own story about one of the smaller, furrier characters!
In maths, after some tricky weeks of place value and mental maths, the children have now been introduced to column addition and subtraction and have had lots of practice of the processes.
The most popular lesson has been art this term and we have been learning to draw using shape as a starting point before adding tone through shading and detail through careful observation. We also invented a plant of our own and drew it to show all these skills. After that, we tried to recreate our plant on Sketchpad, an online app.

Hi everyone,
It's been a very busy week and we really feel like we are settling into the rhythm of Year 3 life now. Everyone has now completed a quiz on AR and are enjoying the books we have in the Library of Wonders.
In history, we are looking at what life was like for children during different historical periods. This week, we discovered that many Tudor children began work aged 7 or 8 (the same age as the children in Ahlberg Class) and became apprentices. They learnt a skill but had to go and live with their master!
Here is a picture of our display for this lesson.
