Autumn Term
English
In our English lessons, we have been reading the fantastic Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver. The whole class really enjoyed this book and we managed to create some extremely interesting writing.
After half term, we started to read about Jim and his life in the Victorian workhouses. We have been shocked to discover what life was like for those less fortunate in our story Street Child.
Art
We created some awesome art installations around the school. Using things that we recycled and upcycled we placed our installations in a temporary gallery in various unusual positions around the school!
For Remembrance Day we took time to reflect on why we give thanks to those who sacrificed their lives for our peace and created some mindful poppy scenes.
Science
We have been investigating what makes a mixture and how we can separate different mixtures through the use of different methods. Here you can see us using the sieving method to separate solid mixtures.
Music
During our music lessons, we have been listening to and composing our own Blues music. We have looked at some famous Blues artists like BB King Jr and created a mind map of the how the music made us feel and the images it conjured in our minds.
Physical Education
This term we have been enjoying fitness sessions and improving our hockey skills. The school have won some new equipment and we have thoroughly enjoyed trying it out!
History
In our history lessons we have been studying the census and why it is important that they are carried out and also what we can learn from them. We were able to find the census from 1851 when Queen Victoria was on the throne!
PSHE
We have been fortunate to have been visited by Wood Green Animal Shelter this term who talked to us about staying safe around animals and how animals are also great for our mental health.
The local police visited us to talk about how we can keep ourselves safe in society and how to be good citizens. The talk was very informative.
Maths
We have looked at so much in our maths lessons! Here are just a few : Roman numerals, exploring and partitioning numbers up to a million, fractions including improper/equivalent and mixed numbers, multi-step problems, how to do the inverse, factors of numbers, prime numbers and squared/cubed numbers! Phew!
