Today, we continued working on our model playgrounds. At the start, we reminded ourselves of the designs we made last lesson. We knew it was important to continue checking our designs while we worked to ensure we built our structures correctly. We planned to build three different structures today. We learned how to measure and mark the materials before cutting it them and discussed how important it was to be accurate. We also watched part of a video about how to build a wooden bridge, which helped remind us of the steps and safety rules. Next, we learned how to glue parts together using either PVA glue or a glue gun. If we used PVA, we had to let it dry before joining the sides. We shared ideas about how to make our structures stronger by using extra wood or cardboard triangles. We the collected our materials and started building, thinking carefully about when to add cladding and how strong our materials were. We changed our designs if we needed to, and we tested and improved our models as we went.
