December
It's been a great start to December in Attenborough class. We are enjoying our new topic: traditional tales. We have read lots of stories including: Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Little Red Hen. We have talked a lot about how these stories have both similarities and differences and have enjoyed exploring the characters in these stories. The children have used the texts to inspire some great artwork including making their own pig houses out of 'bricks' and 'sticks' as well as some lovely red hens.
Outside the children had their first taste of winter when a few cold nights left our outdoor area covered in frost and ice. They enjoyed exploring the environment and used lots of lovely language to describe their surroundings.
We have also been enjoying celebrating Christmas. We read the Christmas Story and learned about the birth of Jesus. We also enjoyed learning about the festival of Hanukkah and learnt a hora dance. We used musical instruments to support our dancing. We have been busy talking about how different traditions are celebrated across the world.
