November
Welcome back to a new half term. We will start this half term by learning about a range of celebrations including Halloween, Bonfire Night and Diwali. The children will have the chance to listen to a range of stories surrounding these themes and will extend their learning in their busy learning time with lots of creative and exciting activities. We will also look at the seasonal changes happening around us and how that affects nature and animals, for example by learning about hibernation. Later in the term we will be reading lots of traditional tales and will be making comparisons about the stories we hear.
In maths, we moving on with our learning about numbers, taking a deeper look at our numbers to 5. We will look at different representations for numbers, will continue to practise our subitising skills and will start to look at mathematical concepts such and adding one more and taking one away. Later in the term we will be learning about and making comparisons with shapes.
World Nursery Rhyme Week - 13th to 17th November
We will be participating in world nursery rhyme week and will have the chance to explore a whole range of nursery rhymes including: Jack and Jill, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, Row Row Row your boat, Hickory Dickory Dock and The Wheels on the Bus.
To start the week off, we are asking children to come to school as their favourite nursery rhyme character! This can be any character from any nursery rhyme. We can't wait to see you! We have also arranged for a musical and sensory session to take place for the children this week where we will be singing lots of songs and playing with various toys and resources.

World Nursery Rhyme Week was a lot of fun in reception. We started with a dress up day where children came into school as their favourite nursery rhyme character. Children also took part in a multi sensory session singing various nursery rhymes and had the chance to play with various puppets too.
