Celebration Day and Christmas Lunch
We all enjoyed our Christmas lunch and had lots of fun together on Celebration Day. We played board games, watched a film and did some Christmas crafts.
Art
Today, we used our maps again! This time we selected a small part of our map to focus on. We created our map designs and then recreated it on a polystyrene tile. We used rollers to paint our tiles and print them on to paper. We also used our tiles to make a whole class piece of art.
Science
As part of our Microhabitats topic, we went on a minibeast search around the meadow. We made a note of which minibeasts we found in each microhabitat and discussed the different environments that each minibeast preferred.
Art
In our art lesson today, we used part of our maps to help us design a stained glass maps. We were inspired by Eduardo Paolozzi’s mosaic at Tottenham Court tube station.
Maths
In maths, we have been using base 10 to help us practise subtracting 1 and 2-digit numbers. We learned that to subtract across a ten, we needed to exchange ten ones for one ten.
Science
We learned about scientific questions and how scientist go about answering them. Our scientific question was, 'What do worms do to the soil?' We made a wormery to try and find out!
Art
We used our map of our journey to school to make relief maps. We used a variety of materials to recreate a part of our map and tried to make sure that each material was suited to the feature it represented.
Computing
In our Computing lesson, we learned about algorithms and how to make sure an algorithm is clear. We built some towers and created detailed algorithms to teach our friends how to rebuild them.
Christmas Decorations
Thank you for your beautiful decorations! Our tree looks incredible!
