Summer term
Outdoor learning
Science
Continuing with our topic of sound, we investigated the relationship between sound and distance. Using a decibel meter and some careful measuring of distance, we worked in groups to explore this. We recorded our results in a table and discovered that as distance increases, volume decreases.
Art
In our art lessons we have been learning about sculpture and 3D art. These are our creations using recyclable resources. The task was to experiment with ways of joining materials together and exploring texture and colour. I’m sure you will agree from the pictures, the children were proud of their work.
Things got a bit more delicate when we used wire to sculpt. With templates as a guide, butterflies, birds, shoes and shells were bent and twisted from the fine wire. The classroom has never been so quiet as all focus was needed on what turned out to be a very engaging piece of art.
Maths
Using polypad, we explored fractions. This was a fun, interactive way to look at the relationships between fractions. We have been learning about mixed numbers and improper fractions.
