October
This month we are continuing with our 'All About Me' topic. The children have really enjoyed looking back at baby pictures and many were able to recognise themselves as a baby or toddler. We have discussed the different stages of growing up and how our bodies change and grow over time.
The children are also enjoying phonics lessons. So far this term we have learnt the following sounds: s a t p i n m d g o c k. They are getting more and more confident in recognising sounds and are learning that we blend sounds together to form words. They are even practising writing. We are so impressed with how well they are behaving in these sessions.
We have also started maths lessons. So far the children have been exploring objects inside and outside and using mathematical skills like sorting, grouping and matching objects. They are learning lots of new words to describe objects that are the same, different or similar.
The children have been extremely busy outside as well. Not only have they been helping with planting and building our discovery garden, but they have been playing with natural objects to help their learning whilst always developing their fine and gross motor skills. They are always happy to be outside...whatever the weather!
