May
For the next few weeks we will be learning about all different kinds of transport. We are starting off by looking at buses. The children really enjoyed our first book, 'The Hundred Decker Bus'. The bus goes on an adventure with the people on the bus building new decks along the way - one deck has a swimming pool on it. The children used this book to draw and write about their very own buses. We have also used the opportunity to talk about the traditional red London bus and of course linked this to some of the landmarks that people might see in London.
In phonics, we are continuing to learn new digraphs and trigraphs such as: ow, oi, ear, air, ure and er. We will continue to practice these and will consolidate our learning of previous GPCs as we move through the summer term.
In maths, we will be starting to build some basic addition and subtraction skills using lots of objects and stories to help us. We will then review some of our learning on shape, but will focus on how shapes can be manipulated and used to create new shapes and patterns.
There is always a lot going on this term with lots of fun and learning along the way.
VE Day
We enjoyed wearing red, white and blue to help to mark 80 years since VE Day. We talked about the significance of this day and discussed how celebrations were taking place in this country and beyond. We enjoyed making flags, painting with red, white and blue and listened to some stories to help with our learning.
Trip to Shepreth
We had an amazing time on our class trip to the zoo. The children enjoyed seeing lots of animals and playing with their friends. We also had thr chance to learn about log piles with the help of one of the zookeepers. It was a great day.
