Spring 2025
Celebration Day fun on the inflatables!
Music - Our topic this half term has been - Colour Composition.
We thought about how music made us think of a colour. After listening to a piece, we created graphic scores - a representation of the music using colours and shapes. In groups, we composed and performed a vocal composition based on a colourful picture. Finally we created a piece based on one colour and then all the colour groups joined for a whole class colourful composition!
Science: Our new topic is Life Cycles and Reproduction. Today we learned about the life cycle of flowering plants. We dissected different flowers to find and compare the parts within.
English - We are learning about figurative language. Here we are trying to match and identify different types like similes, metaphors and personification...
PSHE - It's Children's Mental Health week. Our Brain Buddies showed us different ways to create calm using our bodies and our minds.
English - Here we are writing a dialogue between the characters in 'The Last Wild' our current English text.
Science: Today we found out why Earth has night and day. We used torches to mimic the sun and rotated our mini Earths to show half the Earth in light and half in the dark.
Science - Our new topic is - Earth and Space. Today we created the solar system on the playground. We used different objects to show the size of the planets. Then we created our own correctly ordered and correctly sized solar system using scrap paper.
PSHE - For our PSHE lessons this term we will have sessions delivered by MHST (Mental Health Support Team) called Brain Buddies. These sessions are designed to help our emotional regulation. We worked really thoughtfully today and described emotions and how emotions make our bodies feel.
