January
Happy New Year! Welcome back to another term in Attenborough class. We start this term with a new topic: Amazing Animals. We will be learning about a range of animals, their characteristics and their habitats through a range of stories and sources. Some of the texts we will use include: Owl Babies, The Tiger who came to Tea, The Pig in the Pond and Rumble in the Jungle. In maths, we will be developing our knowledge of number further looking at numbers 6,7,8 and will also spend some time learning about measures and shapes.
The weather is beginning to get colder. We will use the change in seasons as an excellent learning tool, learning about freezing and melting and in making observations in our outdoor environment. Remember those warm clothes as our outdoor area is open all year around.
We have lots of fun activities planned so keep looking back to see some of our learning over the next term.
Safari Stu
We were lucky enough to have a visit from Safari Stu this week. He brought in a range of animals for the children to look at, touch and hold. Safari Stu has a wealth of knowledge about all of his animals so it is a great chance to learn from an expert. We saw a number of different species, including snakes, cockroaches, a lizard, a chameleon, a tortoise and some other exotic mammals. The children had the best time!
